The Bulk Inserter itself is assembled in a regular Assembler. Its crafting requires Electronic Circuits, Iron Plates, and Copper Plates. Electronic Circuits are themselves assembled from one Iron Plate and one Copper Plate. Iron Plates are smelted from Iron Ore in a Furnace; Copper Plates from Copper Ore in a Furnace. Upstream chain: Iron Ore → (Furnace) → Iron Plate; Copper Ore → (Furnace) → Copper Plate; Iron Plate + Copper Plate → (Assembler) → Electronic Circuit; Electronic Circuit + Iron Plate + Copper Plate → (Assembler) → Bulk Inserter. The typical bottleneck in the early-to-mid game is the Assembler stage for Electronic Circuits, since every circuit consumes two plates and assemblers are slower than furnaces. Furnaces are cheap and fast to build, so ore smelting rarely lags. As the factory scales, the bottleneck shifts to assembler count and belt logistics feeding the circuit assemblers. Optimal ratio: for every one Bulk Inserter crafted, you need roughly two Electronic Circuits, two Iron Plates, and two Copper Plates (verify in-game).
