Reader's Guide
The Utility Robot chain is deceptively simple in structure but demanding in volume. At the top, you need Iron Plates (Iron Ore → Smelter) and Copper Plates (Copper Ore → Smelter). These feed a Packaging Machine to produce Electronic Circuits (1 Copper Plate + 1 Iron Plate) and, in a second pass, Circuit Boards (2 Copper Plates + 1 Electronic Circuit). Finally, the Robotic Assembly Machine combines 2 Iron Plates, 2 Circuit Boards, and 1 Electronic Circuit into 1 Utility Robot. Downstream, each Construction Robot or Logistics Robot consumes 2 Utility Robots plus 1 Electronic Circuit, also assembled in a Robotic Assembly Machine. This means your Utility Robot output must be roughly double your final robot output, plus you need a parallel Electronic Circuit line feeding both stages. The bottleneck is almost always the Robotic Assembly Machine itself. It has a slower crafting speed than smelters or packaging machines, and it is the single machine type handling both Utility Robot production and final robot assembly. As your factory scales, you will find yourself with rows of Robotic Assembly Machines dedicated solely to Utility Robots, while a separate row handles the final assembly step. Iron and copper smelters become the upstream constraint at very large scale, so ensure your mining and smelting capacity comfortably exceeds the ratio demanded by the robot pipeline.
