Lore & Background

In the scattered logs and environmental storytelling of the Factorio world, the Rocket is never described as a weapon or a tool of conquest. It is, in the most literal sense, a departure vehicle. The alien landscape—flat, ochre plains dotted with strange fungal growths and shallow water basins—offers no other means of leaving. The Rocket is the only door out, and the player's entire civilization of conveyor belts and smelters exists to walk through it. The production chain that feeds the Rocket tells a story of escalating complexity. Iron and copper become circuits. Circuits become processing units. Petroleum splits into plastic, rubber, and fuel. Each layer adds a new machine type, a new resource contention, a new way for the factory to choke.
