A second Chemistry Plant takes five Petroleum Resin plus one Water and outputs one Sulfur. Sulfur is then converted to Sulfuric Acid (again in a Chemistry Plant), which is the key input for Batteries and other advanced components. The optimal input ratio for a Sulfur-focused line is 25 Crude Oil plus 5 Water (resin stage) plus 5 Water (sulfur stage), yielding 1 Sulfur. The typical bottleneck is the Oil Refinery, since it is the sole source of Petroleum and must simultaneously supply Light Oil for the parallel Plastic chain.
