The Efficiency Module is one of Factorio's three foundational module types, designed to be slotted into the module bays of assemblers, furnaces, labs, and other machines to increase their production speed. Where a Speed Module pushes raw output and a Productivity Module multiplies the yield, the Efficiency Module strikes a different balance: it makes every cycle of the host machine complete faster, letting the same inputs produce the same outputs in less time. It occupies a single module slot per unit inserted, and its effect stacks additively—three Efficiency Modules in a three-slot assembler, for instance, each contribute their speed bonus on top of the machine's base rate. Because it is crafted in a Research Lab rather than a furnace or assembler, its production chain threads through both smelting and circuit-assembly infrastructure, making it a natural early optimization target once the player's factory has stabilized.
