Iron plates are then fed back into a furnace to produce iron gears (two plates per gear), and copper plates become copper wires. These four base components—plates, gears, wires—feed into the first tier. Assembling Machine 1 is crafted at a furnace and requires iron plates, copper plates, and iron gears. It unlocks the ability to craft electronic circuits (iron plate + copper wire). This is the critical unlock: without AM1, circuits do not exist, and the factory is capped at raw material processing. Assembling Machine 2 requires the same base ingredients plus electronic circuits. It is crafted at an Assembling Machine 1.
