To produce one Advanced Assembling Machine you need 4 Electronic Circuits, 6 Copper Plates, 2 Iron Gear Wheels, 2 Pistons, and 2 Iron Plates. Breaking that down: each Electronic Circuit costs 1 Iron Plate + 1 Copper Wire (1 Copper Plate), and each Piston costs 1 Iron Plate + 1 Iron Gear Wheel (2 Iron Plates). Total raw plates per Advanced Assembler: roughly 16 Iron Plate and 10 Copper Plate, giving an 8:5 iron-to-copper ratio. The iron gear wheel is the typical bottleneck. It feeds both the piston line and the assembling machine recipe directly, so a single gear-wheel assembler often has to split its output between two demand streams. Electronic circuits compound the pressure because they also consume iron plate, competing with the gear and piston lines for the same smelter output. As the factory scales, the Advanced Assembler itself becomes a consumer of the very components it helps produce. A common mid-game layout dedicates one assembler to gear wheels, one to pistons, one to circuits, and then a final assembler (or two, running in parallel) to the Advanced Assembler recipe. Because the Advanced tier has two slots, you can run the Advanced Assembler recipe in one slot and a secondary part (say, copper wire) in the other, smoothing out the copper-plate supply without adding another machine. Expect to queue 2–4 Advanced Assemblers per production line of downstream goods; the bottleneck almost always sits at the iron-plate smelters feeding the gear and circuit lines, not at the assembling machines themselves.
