Function: The Pipe transports fluids between machines that have fluid input or output ports. It does not process, filter, or store fluids long-term; it simply provides a connected pathway. Fluids flow from a source (oil pump, water pump, or a machine's output port) through the pipe network to a destination (refinery input, chemical plant input, or another machine's input port). Input/Output: Pipes themselves have no discrete input or output slots. They connect to fluid ports on adjacent machines. A pipe placed next to a machine's fluid interface will automatically link to that port. Throughput is governed by the machines at either end of the network, not by the pipe itself. However, placing multiple pipes on the same tile (stacking) increases the total buffer and effective throughput, which matters when a single machine's pump rate exceeds what one pipe segment can relay. Power: Pipes consume no electricity. They are purely passive infrastructure. Technology: The basic Pipe is available from the earliest stages of the game, making it one of the first infrastructure items a player will craft and place.
